The Journey Home: Stop Four

Introduction

Welcome to Stop 4 on the Journey Home. At this point in our path, we reach the very heart of the entire journey — Jesus Christ Himself. To help you explore this life-changing topic more personally, this stop is written in the form of a conversation between a Guide and a Traveler. As you read, imagine yourself in the traveler’s place, asking the questions and hearing the answers.

Guide: We’ve walked far together, but now we’ve reached the very heart of the journey. Every signpost, every ancient promise, every prophecy points to one Person.

Traveler: Who?

Guide: Jesus Christ. The Bible asks the most important question you will ever face: “What think ye of Christ? whose Son is He?” (Matthew 22:42).

Traveler: That sounds like a question that demands an answer.

Guide: Exactly. Your response changes everything. John explained why he wrote his Gospel: so that you might believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, you might have life in His name (John 20:31). Let’s explore who Jesus really is.

Who Is Jesus? More Than Just a Man

Traveler: I’ve heard people say He was just a teacher or prophet. Is that true?

Guide: More than that. To understand Jesus, we must look beyond Bethlehem, even before time itself.

  • He is God: “In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was God… All things were made by Him” (John 1:1–3). That Word is Jesus (John 1:14).
  • The Father calls Him God: “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever” (Hebrews 1:8).
  • He is the eternal “I AM”: “Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14).
  • He is Emmanuel — God with us: “In Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9; Matthew 1:23).

Traveler: So Jesus is no ordinary man… He is God Himself.

The Rescue Mission: Why God Became Human

Traveler: But why would God take on human weakness?

Guide: To rescue us. “Through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14–15).

Traveler: That’s amazing — God came to free us from death and fear.

Guide: Yes. The angels called Him Saviour from the very beginning (Luke 2:11). By the Spirit’s power, He became human (Luke 1:35). Paul called it the great mystery: “God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).

A Life for You, A Death for You

Traveler: So He didn’t just come to die?

Guide: Correct. First, He lived for us. He faced temptation, just as we do — yet never sinned (Hebrews 2:17–18; 4:15).

Traveler: Did He show that He was God during His life?

Guide: Absolutely. He forgave sins (Mark 2:1–12), raised the dead (John 5:25), fed thousands with a handful of food (John 6:1–20), and even accepted worship (Matthew 14:33; John 20:28).

Traveler: And then He died?

Guide: Yes, He offered Himself as the “one sacrifice for sins for ever” (Hebrews 10:12). But that wasn’t the end. He rose again, ascended to heaven, and sat at the right hand of God.

Your Representative in Heaven

Traveler: What is He doing now?

Guide: He is your Mediator and High Priest — the only One who bridges the gap between God and humanity (1 Timothy 2:5).

Traveler: So He still works for us?

Guide: Every day. “He ever liveth to make intercession” for those who come to God (Hebrews 7:25). And for believers who stumble, He is an “advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).

Traveler: That means I can approach God without fear.

Guide: Exactly. You can “come boldly to the throne of grace” and find mercy and help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

The Godhead: A Team Effort for Your Salvation

Traveler: Where does the Father and the Spirit fit in?

Guide: The plan of salvation is the work of all three — Father, Son, and Spirit — united in purpose and nature.

  1. The Father showed His love by giving His Son and offering forgiveness (John 3:16; Micah 7:18).
  2. The Son came to save us and now intercedes in heaven (Matthew 1:21; 1 John 2:1–2).
  3. The Spirit convicts us, guides us into truth, and brings new life (John 16:8, 13; John 3:3–8).

Your Assurance and Your Future

Traveler: How can I be sure this hope is real?

Guide: The Bible gives seven unshakable truths:

  1. His Deity (He is God)
  2. His Incarnation (He became human)
  3. His Sinless Life
  4. His Atoning Death
  5. His Resurrection
  6. His Ascension & Mediation
  7. His Second Coming

Traveler: That last one — His coming again — is our hope, isn’t it?

Guide: Yes. “To those who look for Him shall He appear the second time … unto salvation” (Hebrews 9:28).

The Center of the Journey

Traveler: So this stop is the very center of it all.

Guide: Yes, here you’ve met Jesus Christ — the key to life.

Traveler: I want to think more about what it means that He is alive and interceding for me right now.

Guide: That’s a perfect reflection.

Conclusion

At Stop 4, the journey has brought you face-to-face with its very center: Jesus Christ. He is more than a teacher, more than a prophet — He is God with us. His life, death, resurrection, and His ongoing work in heaven are not just stories from long ago; they are the foundation of real hope today.

The Bible’s central question — “What think ye of Christ?” — invites a personal answer from you. Who is He to you? Your response shapes not only how you live now but where your journey leads.

This stop is meant to help you pause and reflect. Jesus is not distant or unreachable; He is alive, interceding for you, and inviting you to believe. Whether you’re ready to pray, still searching, or simply considering, remember: Believing in Him is the key to life.
